Our philosophy is to gently raise and naturally start each horse under saddle, teaching an attitude of cooperation to bring out their best...whether a horse is destined for trail and pleasure, versatility, or even the show ring, this foundation enables our horses to more easily learn and succeed throughout their lifetimes. From imprinting at birth through extensive ground training in the round pen, and gentle introduction to saddle and bits, our methods of natural horsemanship opens communications with these horses to foster an attitude of cooperation. Our goal is to raise horses to become pleasure companions. We place strong emphasis on ground manors and handling so that our horses are comfortable with people while remaining respectful. We then look to match them with just the right owners and families to become their equine companions for the long haul. People that will appreciate the temperaments and qualities of our horses and the hours of training that it involves.Folks are constantly amazed at the friendly nature and calm dispositions exhibited by all of our horses. It comes from regular handling as well as consistent expectations of respect. Our horses are taught their manors with love and patience so they are completely comfortable with people as part of their "herd". In this environment young horses respond with trust, love and respect for us as well as all people. We're giving them a huge advantage in their life by teaching them from birth that people are the focus of their world. This foundation makes all their future training almost effortless. We are cautious to sell them only to owners that will value the trust they have been raised with. We encourage all prospective buyers to spend a day with us before taking home one of our horses, to learn the cues and aids and help you understand how each horse has been trained and exactly what you can expect. We are happy to provide contacts with previous owners who have purchased Howe They Walk Farm horses for references upon request. Grit's Black DiamondVery experienced, 12 year old trail and show gelding for sale click below to see videos of him moving
Charlie is a 12 year old gelding that has had tons of trail riding time on him and has even gotten a taste of the show ring where he did very well indeed. In the 9 show classes he was in, he placed in every single class winning the following: 2 firsts, 4 seconds, 2 thirds and a 4th. Some of these classes had as many as 26 horses. He's a real well moving and responsive horse as you can see from watching him in the videos. He stands at 16.3 hands barefoot, but don't let that intimidate you; he will sidepass right over to any mounting block, fence, stump or whatever you need to climb up on and wait for you to get on board.... and if you have nothing handy he will simply stretch way out and stand for you to load up. But if you're bothered by heights, he's probably not the horse for you. This one will keep your feet dry going through the creeks. Charlie has such a presence about him and we've often heard
comments on his "Friesian-like" looks. Big beautiful eyes let you see what
a gentle soul he really is. But he's not a slug. This boy will move
on down the trail, over the logs, across the rivers and creeks, you name it,
he'll get you up, down, over or through it.
He has a sweet canter that will roll you right along and also makes him a nice addition for those folks that like to show in the 3 gaited classes at the pleasure shows. Charlie is current on all shots, coggins, wormings and has just had a performance dental float. He has great feet and so we do not have him shod at this time. He is in excellent health with no known problems or issues, and has wonderful ground manors. Show quality, 3 gaited, trail experienced and a real bargain at $5500
Note the music on these videos is a wonderful song by Mary Ann Kennedy, titled "Born to Ride", from her CD "Hoofbeats, Heartbeats and Wings". You can hear more and purchase this CD from her website at www.maryannkennedy.com
